Morty & Edna's in Lake Placid, Florida, truly stands out as a remarkable place worthy of every bit of praise it garners. My first visit happened just yesterday, prompted by my boyfriend's enthusiastic recommendation, and I can confidently say that this establishment far exceeded all of my expectations. The experience was so extraordinary that I couldn't resist returning today. On my initial visit, I ordered the biscuits and gravy, which came with two perfectly cooked eggs over easy, herb-roasted potatoes, and a side of incredibly tempting candied bacon . The flavors were superb, with my only minor critique being a wish for a bit more gravy. However, the bacon was undeniably outstanding, leaving me yearning for more. In the meantime, my partner chose the lox and cream cheese bagel, a dish that was not only visually appealing but also delicious. It was so impressive that I couldn't help but order it for myself when we returned today. The unique twist, featuring chive cream cheese with crisp cucumbers , dill, and a delicate sprinkle of grated hard-boiled egg, added an exciting new dimension to the traditional cream cheese, lox, capers, and onions combination. The presentation was flawless and included an extra side of Philly cream cheese. Today, my partner opted for the grilled ham and cheese, which looked as appetizing as expected and, as predicted, did not disappoint. The staff displayed not only politeness but also an impressive efficiency in taking our orders and preparing our food. In summary, Morty & Edna's is a definite must-visit for breakfast or lunch when in Lake Placid. Their delightful dishes, creative takes on classics, and welcoming service make it a culinary destination that will leave you eagerly looking forward to your next visit. This hidden gem in Lake Placid has thoroughly impressed me with its exceptional cuisine and extraordinary dining experience.
We literally just finished our breakfast there and let me tell you, we WILL be back! The food was phenomenal! I got the avocado toast and the others at the table enjoyed a croissant woth strawberries and Nutella and a regular breakfast. The hot chocolate was also amazing. Absolutely adorable place, clean and cute. We always support local businesses when we can and this place doesn't disappoint. Please come enjoy a meal there or grab a drink, sit inside or outside, and maybe enjoy a mimosa!
I ordered the BLT, I added chicken to it for a huge protein kick. Chicken was fileted, style was baked, well seasoned on the egdes, very soft and not dry. The sandwich was fantastic! With the sauce, avocado spread, the candied bacon, all the flavors came together in a great way. Food was prepered very quick. Servers were very polite and informative. Great little spot, good for families, couples, singles, id say large parties would be a bit awkward but not impossible.
We finally made it to Morty and Edna’s and are so glad we did! They truly prepare their dishes from the heart, you can really taste the love and they use fresh, delicious ingredients. Amazing frittata, tasty eggs your way and the best café con leche around! We also brought with us croissants for tomorrow’s omelettes. Can’t wait to try their lunch! Friendly staff, plenty of parking. Their if it’s not croque, don’t fix it is so good we just had to take it home and make it a croque madame, no need to fix it, my Spanish blood just needed a fried egg on top! Their carnitas bowl and French dip grilled cheese specials were delicious, as always!
From the second we walked in, I could tell that this place is FULL of love and great energy. The owners were incredibly kind and are at the front line making sure they work as hard as everyone else. The rest of the staff was courteous and really made it feel welcoming and familiar. And the food was INCREDIBLE!!!! Side note, there is a guy with an amazing mustache there who was just the sweetest person I think I’ve ever met. Will absolutely be returning as soon as we can <3
This restaurant is beautifully designed and staffed with friendly people. To top it off, food is excellent and reasonably priced. That’s a five star rating in anyone’s book! Icing on the cake is their inclusivity; thank you for making my husband and I feel at home. Frittata was excellent and the side of bacon is to die for! Eat too much of the bacon and you might! The notoriously sloppy BLT was excellent!!
Very highly recommend a stop at Morty & Edna's, the food is phenomenal with so much love added to every bite you'll be warm and happy for days after!! Not only did we have the pleasure of the food, we also got to chat with Edna and hear their amazing success story! I had the biscuits and gravy with a side of bacon and was in heaven! Rich gravy with a homemade fluffy biscuit and bacon to die for! Hubby had the frittata that was loaded with deliciousness! Everything was so good we ordered the lunch specials to go for dinner later! I will forever crave the chicken salad!
I like it when a place has a sandwich item that you can't find everywhere. I ordered the meatloaf and bacon sandwich, and it was excellent. Besides the meatloaf and thick cut bacon, it comes with garlic mayo, lettuce, and tomatoes on toasted bread. Also, there is a brewery and wine bar in the same area. Any of the places allows you to bring in food or beverages from any location. It is a fun area with live music on the weekends and an area for dogs to play.
